"The conceptualizations that have been formulated in our mind since birth, will shape our way of thinking which will then be manifested in the types of behaviors that will be displayed on the surface!"

For the last three months I have been beyond STRESSED! From being a third semester graduate student to keeping up with obligations at my internship & working it’s a great lot to deal with! Oh and let me not forget those midterms that were about to drive me crazy! This semester has definitely gave me a run for my money but I managed to get through it! One thing I’m learning about myself during my time of being in distress is I MUST TAKE A TIMEOUT FROM REALITY TO RECHARGE MY WELL-BEING BATTERY! If I don’t I’ll find myself falling into a state of depression where I don’t wanna be around nobody & become frustrated with everything and everybody! I can be very moody when I find myself overwhelmed with so many different tasks & obligations!
So this weekend you know what I did? I took care of myself with no regrets! I met with my life coach on Saturday morning, she is always providing me with a sense of warmth & peace. I finally started this mindfulness blog platform that I been wanting to create for a while now. I watched my old alma mater school’s football team play their championship game & yes they won! Congratulations to BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM! I read one of my favorite audiobooks as well. But The icing on the cake was the fact that I was able to blast my speaker all day from sunrise until sunset! I didn’t even realize that I was playing music all day until like 8:00 pm. I love listening to music rather I’m happy or sad. Music is another entity that gives me a sense of peace. This weekend, I literally let the music play from song to song. I usually don’t do that! I’ll always find myself skipping certain songs that I don’t feel like listening too within that moment due to whatever type of mood I’m in at the moment but not this weekend! I just let the music play itself & I’m glad I did. Depending on what song is playing from the intensity of the bass to the flow of the slow or fast melody it can really have an impact on your mood. Music is energetic, it can have an effect on your mind, body, and soul. Before I went to bed I meditated & thanked god for such a peaceful & stress free weekend, it was well needed!
Overall, In order to grasp the concept of mindfulness it is really important to indulge in SELF-CARE on a daily basis. Allow yourself to take a step away from your hectic reality & ask yourself “WHAT DO I NEED?”.
Mindful Practice: Relax your body. Inhale. Exhale. “What do I need to gain fulfillment right now?”
Are you an extrovert or introvert? An extrovert is someone who enjoys being in the presence of others, very sociable. Extrovert individuals will gain their energy from being in the presence of others. An introvert is someone who is characterized as by introversion. Which means they prefer to keep to themselves and can enjoy the feeling of solitude. I am definitely an introvert! Neither are bad characteristics! I gain my energy from within. I love being in my own space and withdrawing from the world to be in my own peaceful world that I created for myself. Not too many people understand that. I NEED TO BE BY MYSELF IN TIMES OF CHAOS!
I love my boyfriend with everything in me & I know he loves me to the moon & back. He can be a clingy and affectionate individual that i love too pieces! He’s always with me 24/7, you would think he lives with me but not yet! I even had to tell him that I need some “ME TIME” meaning that he should go back home & give me my space to recharge my well-being battery before I become snappy with him. Of course he didn’t like the thought of being away to give me my space but he respected & understood my feelings, like a man should, so he left lol. He’ll probably be back Monday or whenever I’m ready to have him back in my space. I can only imagine how it’s going to be when I get married & have kids of my own… what am I’m going to do when I need time by myself to recharge my well-being battery & I’m living under the same roof with all of them! How do y’all people who are married & are parents do it??? I guess I’ll figure it out when I cross that bridge. I’m also an only child who is not used to sharing her space so trust me when I say I am not in a rush to move in with my man, get married & definitely have kids. I wanna have my own space & independence for as long as I can, especially in my own home!
In conclusion, remember to take time take for yourself to RECHARGE YOUR WELL-BEING BATTERY! Like my mother would always tell me “none of us are robots” which means self-care is a necessity! Self care can be:
· Putting your phone on do not disturb
· taking a walk or a warm bubble bath
· going to the mall or nail salon
· Reading your favorite book
· Journaling
· Exercising
· Praying
Even purposely deciding to drive the long route home just to listen to your favorite song is indulging in self care, which I do too very often! My mom used to do that a lot when I was younger when we were driving back home from wherever we were coming from. I never understood that as a child when a song she or I liked that would come on the radio but now as a an adult I totally understand it to the fullest! But I’m not apologizing, whatever I need to feel fulfilled in my time of stress. Meditation is also a very wise self-care tool! I love it! Absolutely pure silence and escapism from our hectic reality! I’ll discuss meditation & the importance of being aware of your breathing in the near future too so stay tuned for that! But please take care of your overall well-being, your mental health matters! Please comment below & tell me your thoughts & how you’re going to indulge in self care this week! Have a great week beauties! 😊💕
